Museo Regional de Durango, allows to know the state's history. In its 12 rooms exhibit paleontological, objects and utensils of the early cultures and traces that recall periods of the Spanish conquest, the struggle for independence and the revolutionary exploits. There is also space for flora and fauna of this beautiful corner of Mexico. Its main attractions are the section on Christ War (conflict between the Mexican government and the church) and the collection of paintings by Miguel Cabrera, one of the greatest painters in Mexico. The headquarters of the museum is one of the most beautiful buildings downtown. It was built in 1890 as the residence of the family of Francisco Gomez Palacio, son of the famous governor of the same name. The neoclassical building is two floors and three sides with French evocative lines, very fashionable at the time. The house is known by the name of El Aguacate, the avocado tree is in your garden. Museum of Archaeology Ganot-Peschard, is a space for study and dissemination of the progress made by the peoples who inhabited the territory of Durango and the surrounding states. Its six rooms exhibit objects and instruments manufactured by men and women chalchiutes Mesoamerican cultures, and Aztatlan guadiana. Also seen rock art photographs and information on methods of archaeological research. The historically valuable pieces that stand out in their rooms, from archaeological sites in the region. Guillermo Ceniceros Art Museum, more than fifty paintings by the famous painter Durango, decorate five of the 11 rooms of the palace of the painting, which opened on August 3, 1998, with the beautiful primitive based on the former Casa Grande Hacienda Flores Forge, but since August 2004, this valuable artistic legacy was transferred to the former Carmelite convent in the historic center of town. The museum pays tribute to the artist Guillermo Ceniceros Durango, considered by connoisseurs as the last great Mexican muralist. It is also recognized as the artist long trajectory in the second half of the twentieth century. In addition to the works of Ashton, are exhibited in the museum's paintings by other important contemporary artists.

Museum of Contemporary Art Zagarra Angel, a former nineteenth-century architectural building, shelters the impressive paintings of this celebrated artist Durango, which for more than three decades followed the lines of the French school and studied with eagerness the characteristics and peculiarities of religious painting. Born in 1886, reflected in his works Zagarra the relationship between man and divinity, life being the main theme. Besides paintings, the artist expressed his feelings and sensitivity through poems, stories and essays. The museum was opened in October 1996 as a tribute to the fruitful career of Durango. The works were donated to the state government by a symbolic sale, held by the heirs of Count René Philippon, the owner thereof
